Connecting two computers

  Austin7 16:56 11 May 03

I have just purchased a new base unit running Windows XP Home. My old system used Windows 98SE. Is it possible to link the two computers and use the old system as a spare hard disc for back ups? What cabling would I need ?

If you have a network card in each pc all you will need is a crossover cable.

Or you could just transfer the old hard disk into your new one and use it as a slave drive.

Took the plunge and bought XP base, then got Belkin 2-poer kvm WITH CABLES built in from dabs
( F1DK102P )£29+pp+vat . works a treat, can flick between base units on one monitor

Many thanks to those who responded. I like the idea by Tenner and as the cost is moderate will give it a go. Thanks.
