I would like to transfer some large files from an old computer to a newer one. I’ve connected a crossover cable to both computers’ network cards. I’ve assigned the following network info to each computer's network card:
Computer A (Windows Vista):
IP Address: 10.1.1.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Computer B (Windows XP):
IP Address: 10.1.1.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
I want to view the files of Computer B on Computer A. I’ve no idea what to do now. Thank you for your help.

If you use a router either wired or wireless and enable both computers via it you can look at and transfer files either way. You just have to enable sharing on the drives. Open My Computer and right click on the drive, then open the sharing tab and enable.
