i have just moved home and my parents internet connection is not compatible with my router. The wire running from their connection to the computer is smaller than the Ethernet cable slots in my router. Is it possible to get an adapter to convert this cable so it is compatible or get a cable with different heads at each end.

Your help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds as though you've got a cable router and the new system is ADSL. You need a combined ADSL/modem router. Something like this; click here
