Connecting to my router

  collinsc 18:08 09 Apr 08

My laptop recognises the network on my router, and i get the msg to enter the WEP key- which i do, and it says "good connectivity" but it wont actually let me on the net...!

Im lost... any suggestions?

Connecting to Server Disconnect
Negotiation LCP is allowed to come up.
Authentication ---
Getting IP Addresses ---
Getting Network Mask ---

Hope your not using both firewalls on the same machine they will conflict.

Which ever one you decide to use(ZA is better than windows IMO) make sure it will allow your browser(IE?).

I would also use WPA security rather than WEP (easily crackable)

First I would recheck the password or even try to connect with security disabled.

Thanks, now removed ZA (for the moment) so have windows. it may well be WPA to be honest (how do i check!?)

my firewall certainly allows IE- as im on it now!
But... do i need to change a setting on my firewall to allow access to the newtrok?
Settings are correct i think!

Are we talking about the laptop?

Forget the desktop as it allows you to connect to the net therefore desktop and router are OK. Worry about router security later.

You need on laptop 1 firewall that will allow IE.

Wireless should be set as per click here

Make sure you have put in correct name for your router and correct security type your router is using, and you have entered the Key correctly.
