connecting to isp failing

Since yesterday umpteen failures to connect to Virgin net. Starts to dial then clicks and then continuous tone exactly the same as someone hanging up on normal phone use.Error message says 678. Tried dialling with phone as requested same sounds. Eventually get connected after several attempts.As I am about to go B/band next week is it poss that anything might have been done to my line? when it was checked.Phone works ok on normal useage.Any help appreciated

Give this a try:

Make a "New Connection" enter 08451121212 in the Telephone Number field. Leave the Area Code field blank.

Enter any ID you like (bloggs) and enter any password you like (123456) etc.

Try to connect. If it works, looks like a problem with your ISP. If it doesn't work, could be a problem with your modem or phone line.
