Connecting to the internet on Mictosoft Vista

My parents have bought a new Dell PC and yesterday and today we tried to connect their Speedtouch 330 modem to the PC. Several attempts later and we gave up - I said that the modem may not be compatible.

I came home and did some research and on the Speedtouch website found this

Installing on a new Vista computer: When using the standard 3.01 (XP) driver it will not be possible to perform an uninstall. A Vista specific driver will be available in March 2007.

So now we have two problems. Is there a modem that will work with Vista? Will they be able to get a free compatible on from their ISP (Virgin media) or will they have to buy one?

Secondly, there are now drivers installed on the new PC which cannot be uninstalled.

What do we do with them?

Until this update arrives, you are as they say "snookered" Speedtouch modems have known issues with Vista. If you are in a rush to get online, you could buy an ADSL router and connect it directly to the PC...waste of money if you only have the one computer though...other than that these drivers should appear soon.
