I bought a brand new Dell Vostro 1710 with vista with that downloadeable xp. I plan to use the wireless internet when I am traveling. At home I am stuck with dial up connection. I set up the connection accordingly. Went to plug in the phone line and it will NOT fit in the slot. (Yes, I am using the right slot). Also, it says I have no modem. I thought all computers came with a modems. I have one on my desktop so can I download the same software that is used on my desktop (V.9X/56K Data/Fax/Modem software) to my laptop to make it have a modem? Or is it best to get a external modem so I can access the internet wirelessly from the laptop around the house? I didn't know this ws so confusing. Help please! Thanks

Some of dell laptop is being supplied with out a dial up modem these days due to the worldwide

spread of broadband you would have to connect a USB modem or if you can find a

ExpressCard/54 dial up modem that would fit in to the ExpressCard/54 slot
