i want to connect a printer, scanner and external HDD Caddy to a wireless network without having them physically linked to a PC/Laptop. Is this possible and, if so, how?

Printers must use either a host PC or a print server. Scanners cannot be used as a network client (and there would be little point anyway, given that you would still have to go to the scanner and its host PC to use it!) For storage to become a network client, you need to use NAS (Network Attached Storage), which is not cheap.
