Connecting 2 PCs with XP Pro

I have 2 PCs with XP Pro installed. I wish to share some of the files between the PC.

Both of the PCs have network cards installed. If I connect the PCs together using a network cable, will I be able to copy files from one hard disk to another? Or is it more complicated than that?

Any ideas/thoughts gratefully received.

It's not that difficult, but like anything READ THE MANUAL FIRST - in this case, the following links should help.

Like anything to do with Windows, preparation is very important. Time spend on that will save you time trying to correct mistakes.

You will need to connect the two PC's with a crossover cable, this is where the transmit from one PC's network card is connected to the Recieve of the other network card and vice versa. Then run the Win XP network setup wizard and follow the instructions.

PS you can do a lot more than share files!
