Connected to network, but not router?

Hi All,

Would be really grateful if anyone could help me with the following problem:

I'm using an old IBM Thinkpad with a RALINK 2500 wireless adapter to use the router at the dorm I'm currently living in. It worked fine for a month or so but randomly stopped working.
The icon for connection to the network comes up, but there's very little activity on the status page - the packets recieved ticks up very slowly.
I've followed a couple of guides about setting up wireless connections, but I'm at a loss. I don't think its an issue of encryption.

Any advice would be amazing!
