I have just bought a Samsung SD590 24" LCD monitor for my old Evesham desktop which seems only to have a DVI output. The new monitor has 2 HDMI slots and a VGA input. I hope that a DVI to HDMI adapter cable will work? The built in speakers, I assume, will not. I have a soundcard that is connected to separate speakers (SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio) so am not too bothered, but if I want to get sound from the monitor what is the best way?

DVi D to HMI are both digital so no problem converting just need correct plug on each end of cable.

speaker out socket to audio in socket on monitor 3.5 jack to 3.5jack or .5 jack to rca phono plugs depending on what the ausio in is on the monitor.
