I have windows 98ME pc that I want to transfer data over to an XP laptop but not sure the best way to connect them. They are both on the same broadband connection (98 by cable XP wireless) but not sure how I get them to talk to each other. I tried using the network crossover cable but I don't have a connection in the 98 machine for the cable.

Have you tried running the Network Setup Wizard on the XP machine and at the last stage making a floppy disc to run on the 98 / ME (?) machine?

Hi Taff thanks for info unfortunately I dont have a floppy but have a cd/dvd writer so presumably I could burn a disk & use that?

Pretty certain you can.Copy the file to the 98/ME machine and run the file. You can also run it from an XP disc if you have one.
