Confusing Drive Letters

  Migwell 00:48 30 Apr 03

I have re-installed Win XP afresh.

The problem is this time it has made a mess of the drive letters. The main drive Primary master should be 'C' but came up 'F' other drives came out with all sorts of daft letters. I know how to change the various letters but the drive that came up as 'F' can't be changed.

The Question: 1 why has this happened.
2 How can I get over the 'C' being called 'F' as best part of programs want to go into 'C' automaticly.

Has any one had this happen to them before?

this happened to me and was given this solution from another forum member just the other day and it worked a treat.go to start/run and type or copy and paste diskmgmt.msc right click on the drive and click change drive letter enter the letter you want for the drive and and click ok.

Try removing all other drives, reboot. With any luck your drive should be C: then re-connect other drives
