confused re deleting part of Office

and followed instructions, but tho it says Add or remove features I can't see any way to remove them when they are already installed. If I were starting an installation from scratch it looks as though I would click those items that I want to install and ignore the rest; but uninstalling something already installed doesn't really seem very clear. (It's Office 2000, by the way)

You should get a list of all the programs and if you open up one of them and look at the drop down list of options you will find install, run from disc, not available. or something like that. Select the one you dont want and make sure the big red X is in not available. Then click on continue.
