Running xp reinstalled last weekend. installed adobe reader 6, norton antivirus 2004, iso buster window washer 5 easy cd creator 6 and the xp patch, office 2003, paperport deluxe 9,

norton uses a lot of pc resources and can slow your computer down, can not see a problem with the rest of the software you have installed.
Try going to run and type msconfig, select startup and have a look at what programs are ticked to run when you boot

theres ticks in everything

are there any programs you do not want running at start up?. Also you can try unticking one program at a time to see if it is causing your pc to run slowly.Make sure you leave systray and explorer ticked
