Conections tray manager crashes

I'm using xp pro & a bt voyager 100 usb modem and when working normally i have the network connection icons flashing in the system tray.

After an extended amount of time online the connection manager crashes and cuts off the internet, leaving the icon in the system tray but un-responding.

Shutting windows down is the only way I've found to clear it, but this results in it hanging at the xp "saving you settings" screen and i have to press the reset button.

Can anyone offer a solution to this? Or the name of its process in task manager to kill it manually, or might i have a damaged set of drivers.
