My HiGrade computer has writen 99999999999999999 on boot up since I received it. If for instance I opened an Excel file after boot up the computer automatically starts writing 999999999 and doesnt stop until I press a key. If I then close the Excel file the problem ceases. The 99999999999s are also written if say I want to log on to my AOL internet connection. The 9999999999999 appear (as asterisks) where the cursor appears for me to type in my password. The computer also makes a ticking noise on boot up when it is waiting for me to take an action.
I use my computer without any problems after I have stopped the 9999999999999 writing.

Could be that the "( and 9" key on the keyboard (top row) is sticking; try tapping it to see if it will clear if this is the case.

Or try another Kryboard - also try plugging it and unplugging it a couple of times - could be a dodgy connection.

I'm amazed at the response and so quick - never used a helproom before but this is brilliant.I am using Microsoft Millenium on my computer. Have tested to see if the 9 is sticking but it is OK. Am trying the plug - unplug keyboard solution. Why dint I thnk of that.

You should have a file called 'autoexec.bat' on your hard drive. This file is used to start your MS-DOS environment and could be contributing to the problem.

Try to delete the autoexec.bat file from your computer using Windows explorer, restart the computer and see if this has resolved the problem.
