Computer won't shut down

'computer shutting down' screne remains, have to switch off from mains. This problem started after I installed a firewire adapter card. Windows XP still refuse to shut down even after removal of the card. Please help....

Yeah, system restore didn't solve the problem. I looked up the error log, in service control manager, it reported :'application management service terminated with the following error: the specified module could not be found Event ID 7000'

have a look in controlpanel/administrativetools/eventviewer for some clues maybe look for errors
