Computer will not complete Boot sequence

Since installing more memory my computer sometimes fails to Boot. It gets a far as the memory test then displays the press Del and Esc etc. Then the screen goes blank, and the hard disc light stays red the keyboard is not activaed and nothing happens. Hence I cannot access the BIOS.

On the occassions when it does boot and I need to restart for any reason, it will not restart, getting to the same point as above and hanging.

I think I remember reading some time ago that this may be due to spin up times. But I cannot remember to solution.

Does anyone remember the solution? or have any other ideas?

I am running Windows 7 on an AMD Athlon with 2Gb of memory on a K7 Triton GA-7V600 board.

Have you tried removing the memory you recently fitted and seeing if it boots properly?

It turned out to be one of the old memory chips gone u/s.
