Computer switches itself on

Please advice, when I switch my pc off but do not switch off at the mains, it later switches itself on.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Thank you in advance.

It sounds like you've got a dialer that's turning your computer on to dial out click here install and update and run this Spybot Search & Destroy.

This has come up recently.

When it happened to me it was caused by external equipment (non-computer) switching on e.g. freezer, CH or something.

I think perhaps it causes a small spike. An anti-surge device might help

You may have Enabled a device on your system, such as a modem, to boot it up at a certain time or times.

Check out via the Power Management tab for such devices using Device Manager and their Properties and ensure that "Allow this device to bring the system out of Standby" is unchecked.
