Computer stops Win XP

  lufbra 09:47 09 Jun 08

Every now and again my screen goes black and I get the following message:
resuming windows
For troubleshooting and startup options for windows press f8.

I have pressed everything on the keyboard with no result and then have to switch off and restart

Right click on "My Computer", select Properties - Advanced - Startup and Recovery - Settings. Untick the box for Automatically restart. The next time the computer encounters a problem, instead of trying to restart it should generate an error message.

I tried that but still get the same message

Your PC is going into hibernation mode. Does it happen when it's been left untouched for a while or when you're in the middle of doing something?

As above go to Control Panel Power Settings change things to Never

  lufbra 12:48 09 Jun 08

I have set it to hibernate but will cancel that and see if it resolves itself

  lufbra 16:40 09 Jun 08

That seems to have worked. Why I switched it to hibernate I don't really know as I am a "If it ain't broke don't fix it"type of person. I will try not to meddle any more.
Thanks for your advice
