computer start up problem

hi,

my problem is when i switch on my computer and it gets to the welcome page,i choose my account and then type in my password and press enter and then thats it . it goes to load onto my desktop but dosent it just stays on the blue welcome screen and i have to wait a while and then press alt+ctrl+del to get onto my desktop. dont nowhats happend.

corrupt profile.

Boot to safe mode and access the adminstrtor account then

Type

sfc /scannow

in the run box, press enter and let system file checker find and replace missing / corrupt file in windows and explorer.This will take awhile to complete and you may be asked for the CD to be in the drive if windows is not preinstalled on the hard drive.

do i have to download scannow its just if i do i cant seem to find it on the link

no system file checker is built into XP just type

sfc /scannow

in the run box and press enter (becareful of the space after sfc )

the link is if you have any problems running sfc (system file checker)

thanks for all your help but its not havin it ive done all that but when i press ok after ive typed sfc /scannow it just goes off and im just left on the desk top. its not so bad having to press alt+ctrl+del.
