Slightly confused - did you upgrade 2 systems or one? Confirm it is a laptop?

In the search box type reliablity and performance manager. Open that, then the UAC, then enlarge disc and you will see what is using a lot of disc activity. This may be searchindexer which can slow systems down. But on 2 systems both upgraded I am not sure hence my question.

If you have a Vista disk then a clean install may be best. Upgrades are problematic, particularly on a system that's got a lot of carried over programs, files etc.
You just can't beat a clean install on a freshly formatted partition.
