Computer restarts on Shutdown

  Dirk Diggler 21:27 14 Sep 09

Recently installed a firewire card into my PC for the purpose of transferring some camcorder footage for editing

However, since doing this when I select "Shutdown", the PC goes through the Logging Off > Shutting Down procedure, then switches off, then after about 3-4 seconds it restarts automatically.

Can anyone shed any light as to why this may be happening and how it can be rectified (apart from removing the firewire card)

Many thanks

Check the BIOS settings and disable
boot on LAN
boot on ring

Thanks for that, however I cannot seem to get into the BIOS

When I start the PC, all the F keys and even the Esc key take me unto a screen called "Boot Manager" (PC is from PC World btw)

This screen gives me various option such as

- Repair Computer
- Safe Mode
- Safe Mode with Networking
- Safe Mode with Command Prompt

- Enable Boot Logging
- Enable Low-res video (640 x 480)
- Last Known Good Config
- Debugging

I have tried the Repair but this just loads Windows and then takes me to a Tech Guys (PCW Support) screen with no mention of the BIOS settings

Given that the Startup has obviously been changed by the manufacturer, are there any other keys that may take me into the BIOS on startup?

Normally one presses the Del key to enter the BIOS.
