By the way, when i say not even the mouse will work i mean you cant even move the cursor from side to side. Basically everything freezes. If im playing music in the background, that freezes too. I think you get the drift.

FReeezing PC

1. Overheat due to faulty / blocked fans

2. PSU voltages

3. Household power surges fridge etc switching on/off

4. faulty memory stick try memtest click here

5. virus or spyware scan for both especially if shutting down with in a few minutes of switch on or internet use

6. driver conflicts especially grahics cards get the latest drivers for your equipment

7. Bad connection to hard drives check SATA / IDE data cables are tightly pushed home at drive and motherboard ends.

If you wish for a complete HJT analysis you really need to go to one of the forums that facilitate this such as click here

or

or

however
you do not appear to have either superantispyware

or malwarebytes on board click here both of which seem compatible with Vista

Try running full computer scans with each once you have fully updated them ; let us know what they find? OR you may wish to go and get the HJT log analysed on one of the other forums?

I would agree with Fruit Bat. I had this problem and learned the hard way by restarting the pc until I fried the cpu. When I removed the fan I found that the cpu heat sink was totally clogged with fluff. Too late sadly and now I have a useless pc.

Might i add...

The computer worked perfectly fine a few months ago. I am a university student, so i moved the computer back home and i went traveling for 3 months. These problems with the computer started after i moved the computer back to university.
I stored the computer in my garage. No one used the computer at all and no one has booted it or anything.

Might this single out any of the suggestions mentioned above?

3. Household power surges fridge etc switching on/off

If i did have surges, how would i smooth out these surges?

  chub_tor 19:15 13 Oct 09

And that could be your problem as garages are typically not temperature controlled in any way so it would have been subject to swings of high and low temperature as well as humidity. Under those conditions corrosion can easily occur, or possibly moisture might be between the graphics connectors. Have we established if it is a desktop or a laptop?

  chub_tor 19:19 13 Oct 09

OK just noticed another couple of things from your Hijack log.

You have Roxio 9 installed with Vista and if you Google this you will find that some people have problem with this combination.

There are also mentions of both McAfee and Symantec/Norton. You don't happen to have 2 anti-viruses installed at the same time do you? This is another potential source of conflict.
