Computer keeps freezing

hi

every now and again my pc keeps freezing up, half the time this happens once windows has booted up, my pc - amd duron 800mhz, 256 mb ram, 80gb hd, im using windows xp pro.
Hope someone can help?

check inside the case that it is not filled with dust and fluff. This sounds like an overheating problem. The fan on the cpu could have failed?

Before your problem gets any worse, backup everything you can, preferable to either an external hard drive or at least your important documents, photos files etc to CD or DVD. Then if your system goes belly up at least you will be able to reinstall. Been there, done that, and didnt have the te-shirt.
