Computer Hangling on startup

  TrevNI 11:01 26 May 05

Laptop using XP Home.

When I start the computer most of the time the white box to key in my name and password (never use this) flashes on the screen for a split second and then I get the blue screen with the windows XP logo and the message Executing C:\windows\system32\wlnotify.dll ... and the system hangs there.

If I turn the machine off and on again (sometimes you need to do this 2-3 times) it works ie comes to the white box asking for my user name and password which are both greyed out so when I get hit REURN to get to the next screen then I have the icons for the various user accounts on the machine.

Any ideas on what is causing this problem ?
