  barryg 17:05 26 Jan 06

After a reformat and reinstall of windows xp, I have restored backup and everything seemed O.K. on rebooting I am getting:-
Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk, check boot path and disk hardware.
Anyone help me on this one please?

Some backup software mark the backup a inactive and therefore unbootable,to try and resolve the possibility of two drives showing as a boot drive,
restoring the backup will not change that, the drive will have to be set as active in order to be seen as a boot drive with an operating system.

Thanks uisquebeathus, can you tell me how to set drive as active? It is a Maxtor running Dansk Retrospect Software.
