computer battery

iam having to put in a new 20 32 battery every 2or3 weeks.
now my computer wont boot , (not this one) wont go into safe mode,
it just keeps going round and round, no matter what I press
safe mode, safe mode with network,
last known good configuration
load windows normally
with xp disk in , will not repair itself, press r for repair
it it goes back to bios startup ,

what was the fault that initially made you change the battery in the first place?were you losing time etc?

these type of batteries should outlast most computers i think.lifespan is avg of 3-5 yrs.

maybe the motherboard itself is faulty.

if you can enter the bios set up,click "set up defaults" and see if it boots.if you cannot,dig out your mobo manual and see if there are jumpers to reset the cmos.

if having problems booting from the windows cdrom,try making the cd or dvd drive the first boot device in the bios.i guess you have already done so to get as far as pressing R.

not sure to be quite honest sorry.

i got a low battery warning and the clock had gone back to september, thats when i built the computer,this will be the third battery its had
since built

put in a new 20 32 battery,(the last one i put in was a 2025 a much thinner battery)
ran chkdsk computer booted up fine
