Computer attempts boot and dies

Just purchased Asus M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard, AMD Athlon IIx3 CPU, Asus 1GB EN9500GT Graphics card, 2 x 2GB Kingston memory (approved) running from a Tagan 460W TG480-U01 power supply. OS Windows 7 OEM.
Managed to get everything up and running (too smoothly - should have known problems were coming)and found the SB Audigy drivers wouldn't load and computer rebooted during installation. (coincidence?) uninstalled and reinstalled - same problem. Disabled SB and went into BIOS and enabled onboard audio. Plugged speakers into motherboard audio and switched on - brief fan spin, LED on motherboard lit but after a second or so - nothing. Re-connected front panel power switch - removed speaker jack - LED lit (remains lit) - very brief sign of life and sudden death.
Thought it might be a problem with the PSU, but would appreciate any thoughts on the problem - please!
Should mention I have fitted a Freezer Pro Rev.2 heatsink and fan too.

Sounds like PSU has died.

When you fitted the freezer pro, what TIM paste did you use?

Thanks Fruit Bat/\0/\

OTT_B: Artic Silver 5 - any help?

0TT_B: Thermal paste=Artic Silver 5 - any help?

oh dear! Sorry about the duplicate.

Should also mention that the brief spark of life happens each time the computer is switched on - couldn't be a short somewhere, could it?

Yes, was just making sure you used some! No offence meant to you, but it's quite a common error for the inexperienced. Worth asking the question!

Agree with Fruit Bat /\0/\, PSU is dead.

Thanks to both Fruit Bat /\0/\ and OTT_B for the help - have ordered another PSU - 550W this time and will let you know if that solves the problem. Thanks again.

Just to confirm that it was indeed the PSU that had died on me - annoying as it wasn't a cheap one, but never mind eh? :-)

Thanks for the help.
