Compressed Backup

I use Macrium Reflect as a backup program.
This has the option of varying degrees of compression during backup. If I use this to backup my photos will there be a loss of detail upon recovery as happens in compressed jpeg files.

At the moment I use a compressed image of my main C drive onto a second internal hard D drive as well as to an external drive. My documents and photos and videos are held on my D drive and backed up to the external drive manually, updated regularly as needed. These data files total about 25Gb and growing plus the large disk image file. Eventually the external drive will be filled, hence my query.

Think the real answer might be to delete old backup images.
