"Component Transfer Error"!

Hi there. I recently had my pc back from my friend who borrowed it while hers was being repaired. While she had it, for some reason it kept crashing. So when I had it back, I formatted the hard drive and after many unsuccessful attempts (I don't know why), Windows Me is finally back on there. I am now trying to install The Sims Deluxe Edition on there for my kids. The first disc loads fine. When it asks for the second disc, you click ok and then the message "Component Transfer Error" appears. This is a new one on me! Can anyone help?
P.S I know that Me is not the best, supposedly, for The Sims, but I haven't had a problem before. Thanks!
