Compatible memory - crucial scan no good

  dagbladet 10:35 28 Dec 05

Hello all. As the title suggests the crucial scan can't identify my memory. However, Everest describes it as; Infineon 64D64020GU7B, 512MB, PC 2100 (133Mhz), DDR SDRAM, @ 133 MHz 2.0-3-3-6 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS), @ 142 MHz 2.5-3-3-7 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS).

I currently have 1 stick as above, I want to go to 1 Gig of RAM. What are my options?

You need to find the info from a manual, for the mainboard or for the whole PC.
If you don't have one, contact the manufacturer or try an internet search.
Also try the Kingston site, which listed the correct memory for my Toshiba laptop, whilst the Crucial site listed the wrong item.

OK. I am happy that Everest has identified my memory. What I'm asking is, do I have to match all of those numbers with the new stick, or does the PC2100 bit not matter, or the 133mhz bit and so on.

What is the make and model of your computer, dagbladet, the type of memory will matter if your motherboard doesn't support a faster module.

That's excellent detective work Maj. I just used their scanner and it wouldn't work. Now armed with this knowledge when I trawl around the shops on and offline what are the IMPORTANT specs that I need to look out for? ie. Obviously I need/want 512MB. Does it have to be 133mhz? does it have to be PC2100? You see what I mean?

Apologies MAJ. Having now read the whole page that you linked it answers all the Q's. Thanks again.
