I have an old Compaq Prosignia 150 laptop. When booting up the monitor no longer works. It gives a series of Beeps 1-2-2-3. Any ideas what this indicates. I imagine given the age of the machine that repair is likely to be uneconomical.

A new CMOS Battery seems a likely solution given the age of the machine. Can anyone point me in the direction of an idiot guide to doing so (and a good supplier of batteries)?

In a desktop they are usually cr2032 £2.99 from Wilkinsons, don't pay PC world prices.

However I suggest you get the battery out first an find the type before buying one.

click here looks like a CR1220

On a Compaq Prosignia 165 the battery is under the keyboard.
