Hi
I have been given a compaq desktop but the floppy drive does not work. Can I use any floppy off another pc to replace it or do compaqs have their own type?

I ask this because the front of the floppy have a much wider facing than normal floppy drives. do i just transfer over the facing onto another floppy?

Many thanks

Andy

I've been playing with a Compaq desktop at work, the floppy looks standard, I don't think Compaq make their own, so you should be able to change the fascia.

I had a Compaq Presario, tried shifting its floppy drive onto my next PC,and discovered that the drive had a different ribbon cable with it.I had to use the Compaq's ribbon/a normal one(cannot recall which way I did it as it was several years back)but they do fit with a bit of juggling. :-)
