Compaq Armada v300 Hard drive

I am trying to install a 20Gb HDD into a Compaq Armada V300 Notebook but the BIOS does not pick it up. I have tried to partition the drive to 4 Gb primary partition but with no difference I do not have the origional support disks and I am having trouble finding them on Compaq's site.
Anyone have any advice.

what size was the original hard drive?
I am a bit confused though, if your bios doesn't see the drive, how did you partition it?

I suspect your bios cannot see 20gig and you need to download a bios upgrade.

The original hard drive was 5Gb and I partitioned the new drive on my older notebook to see whether it would pick up a smaller partition as the old drive is dead.
