have fitted second hard disk drive .I can see it in bios and it shows as secondary on boot up sequence: But it has not shown up as new hardware , so I am unable to designate a drive letter for it therefore I cannot use it. Any answers?

Have you fdisked it?

It is necessary to partition it (even one bigh partition) and then format it - otherwise windows will not recognise it presence. You will most likely need a boot disk with fdisk on it - click here for a great choice.

Have you set the jumpers to slave & has the drive been formated ?
