Hello I am having difficulty using the command prompts for remote systems...

For example..

I have tried running the shutdown prompt for a remote user using shutdown -m \\thecomputername

and nothing happens any idea why I cant do this as a small domain administrator getting these remote prompts to work would be useful. Thanks

With the Shutdown.exe program installed I believe the syntax is: shutdown \\computername /l (lower case L to shut down local computer)

To give a time for the shutdown use the following syntax: shutdown \\computername /l/t:"msg"

The shutdown.exe progam is on the Resource Kit.

Sorry the syntax should read:

shutdown /s /m \\computername

The l trigger is to log off.
