You have to go into Router setup through a Browser like IE then go to Wireless settings and enable Encryption, you have to put a Password of your choice in the box, write it down as you will need to enter it in the Laptop settings for WiFi to connect

Depending on your router make and model you should be able to go into the wireless settings and look for either WEP or WPA encryption , by default it is turned off , you will have to tick a box or click a button to turn it on , if selecting WPA you can use a memorable long word , for WEP it needs to be a mixture of characters and numbers or click here for a random generator , copy and paste into the router set up and then into your wireless connection . Have you tried downloading the Router PDF from the Linksys website ?
