CMOS Battery

Hi all

Is there anything I need to do before changing a CMOS battery or can I just whip it out and replace it?

I presume all the setting will be lost and I will need to run defaults?

remove 13amp plug from wall socket before you remove it as when computer is switched off, power is still on at the motherboard

If you are lucky you should only need to reset clock/date. Watch out for static

Take a note of the Bios settings first, then you won't have to use the defaults.

It's unusual for a motherboard battery to need replacing - I've never had to change one in the past 12 or 13 years...:-)
