Close cover on Canon MP610 printer

Constantly get "cover is open" message on Canon MP610 even though cover is closed. Any ideas?

There is probably a small switch which is operated by the cover when it is closed. Have a look as maybe it has moved. If not it may be faulty and need replacing. Also a piece if insulation tape over the active part of the switch might get you printing in the meantime.

Found this...

"Had the same problem myself but discovered that I had previously moved the inside flap down when I put the ink in. I moved this back into position and bingo! (If you make sure all the covers are closed then look into the printer where the paper exits you will see the flap that moves up and down, this must be in the up position)"

The cover this fault usually refers to is as Graphicool1 suggests the one that you pull down when printing directly onto a CD or DVD. To print from the cassette or from the paper at the back this flap must be in the up position. Just put your hand in the front and push the flap hard towards the back.
