Cloning HDD

Just curious....If I clone my present OS...Then install say Vista/Win7 over the cloned OS so I end up with Vista/Win7 on one HDD and XP on the other....Is there any problem in just swapping the relevant HDD over, therefore having the use of two OS's?.....Oh and I'm not interested in duel-boot on one HDD.

Why would you install Vista/Win7 over the top of your "cloned" XP rather than clean installing it in the separate hard drive?

There isn't a problem having operating systems in separate hard drives and swapping them over; I do this myself but have a hard drive "caddy" in the PC instead of a fixed hard drive, so that I can swap drives in seconds by just pulling out one drive and slotting in another.

I've separate caddies as well....Was just curious!
