Cloning a hard drive

I want to transfer an exact copy of one hard drive to another in the same machine before the first hard drive fails, and to save re-installing everything. Can anybody suggest a reasonably cheap program that will do that? I am using XP Home edition. Many thanks in anticipation.

You can either try Norton Ghost 2003 or Powerquest Drive Image 2003.

I recently purchased a pair of new HD's and Ghost 2003 for back up purposes. Really please with how easy it is now to backup my whole HD and restore it when required. :)

Acronis TrueImage will do this and is a really handy 'backup' utility because it runs in Windows XP without having to reboot. Much faster than others I've tried.

Trial version available click here

Alternatively you can use clone function provided free as part of the Maxblast software on the Maxtor web site click here
