two graphics cards both £70 one is radeon 9000 and the other is radeon 9000 pro. the pro has 550mhz clock speed but only 64MB whereas the other has 400mhz and 128MB

could you tell the difference? which one is the one i want? i can't see any other difference.

why not run both of them with 3dmark01?? then you will see which one has the greater graphics processing power on your system.

click here and download 3dMark01SE (top right)

The Pro will be a faster card as it runs a higher core speed. Are they both DDR? At the moment 64mb is more than enough and the extra memory won't make much differance. For future proofing you might want to consider the 128mb, but by the time 128mb is necassary there will be a whole host of new cards. I make do with a 32mb and have no problems.

they are both ddr, does it matter that the computer only uses sd?

i have a p3 700 and am hoping to add a card that will keep the computer able to run todays software. latest release games should work. is the card too good for the pc?

Could just buy a 9500 and enjoy better performance than both of them for not a lot more.

I would get the 64MB Card. I think the higher ram only makes a difference at high res and so far as I can tell no game really needs it.

The higer clock speed would make more difference than the ram.

Despite the confusing naming applied by ATI, these two are not the same card at all.

click here for a good review of the capabilities of a wide range of cards. Click the link for 'Mainstream graphics cards', then compare the Radeon 9000 Pro with the Hercules (a Radeon 9000). You may be surprised.
