Clicking noise then pc freezes..

Most times now when I start up the pc I get this clicking noise like a breaker or set of points (thats the only way I can describe it) then after a couple of minutes, maybe up to half an hour if I'm lucky the pc just freezes and I have to shut it down and restart..Help please..

1. Overheatting, switch off and clean all dust out of case, clean fan blades. Retry.

2. Hard drive failing, no remedy other than to replace the drive. Back up everything NOW as a precaution.

3. PSU failing, replace PSU.

Thanks Fruit Bat,will try clean out first - have replaced PSU a couple of months back and have a back up done already..

If nothing else works,Try Last good configuration in safe mode,Microsoft had some bad up-dates on 16th of this month which caused a lot of computers to stop working,If you already downloaded the up-dates without any problem,You can ignore this,But it will not do any harm trying it,

Hard drive failing noises click here. They are usually fairly quiet. Louder noises generally come from something touching a fan blade, but unless the fan actually stalls are unlikely to cause the computer to crash. To localise the source of the noise remove the case cover, roll a sheet of A4 paper into a long tube, then with one end against your ear see if you can find where the noise is coming from.

Thanks buteman..Just going by Belarc Advisor and Everest home Edition drives "seem" to be ok..Isn't there some way I can tell the temperature of the pc?

Can anyone tell if Temerature is ok?
