Trying to restore all the e-mails from clickfree to a new harddrive but although it says all the e-mails are restored we cannot trace them on the new machine

Did you open Outlook Express and then import all the .dbx folders from the Clickfree backup drive?

Open Windows Explorer then Tools>Folder Options>View Tab. Select show hidden files and folders, Untick Hide File extensions of known type and Untick Hide protected operating system files. Or you won't be able to see them.

In XP they are usually in .dbx folders in Documents and settings>yourname>Local settings>application data>identities>[long folder name of numbers symbols and letters > Microsoft> Outlook Express

Outlook Express > Tools > Options > Maintenance tab and click on 'Store Folder' button (this will tell you where OE is currently storing your email that is in the folders displayed when you are using OE)

Thanks Lotvic

Two questions before I perform the functions you set out

1. There is a warning about possibly disabling the computer by unticking "hide protected operating system" Presumably its ok so long as files are not removed.

2. How do you import into Express from Clickfree? I can see the listed *.dbx files in Clickfree but dont seee how to show them for listing into outlook express
