Clearing RAM when programme closed

  john-a 16:59 15 Sep 06

i have noticed, using task manager, that in some cases RAM is not released when programmes/windows are closed. the process remains.
i have already set some of the attributes in the registry to release RAM on close, as per PC Advisors recent tuning tips. However some processes stay in RAM, some with 28 to 80 Mb, and when there are many it uses alot of RAM up.
Anyone got any tips on setting something "on" or "off" within windows xp home sp2 to always release RAM? or a little bit of reliable freeware to do it?
