I have used CC for years I guess and always let it do its own thing and have never had a problem with it.
I also use the free Advanced System Care and this also is fine as long as care is taken not to tick anything in the final suggestion box- Security Analyzer unless you know what you are doing.
Having said all that is there any point, if I run one and then the other shortly afterwards hunderds of tempoary files etc will be found which the first one didnt. Are any of them doing anything at all?

CCleaner is a safe cleaner. It only tends to clean out some files but not all. It also depends on how you've got it set up. Like in 'Options' 'Advanced' ...Only delete files in Windows Temp Folders older than 48 hours. It's up to you.
