Device Mgr advises: - "Not configured correctly. (code 1)
To re-install the drivers for this device, click "RE-Install Driver.

I have tried all the available options, without success.

I have a driver package downloaded from the machine manufacturers, for the LAN (WinXP) but pointing the driver wizard to it has no effect, and it doesn't have a .exe file to install from.

If this is not what's required, then what do I need?

what file extension do you have for the driver

  six-h 00:49 22 Jul 09

The downloaded zip file is D(M)2xES_LAN_WinXP.zip
extracted it contains Folder "WINXP, in that are: -
Netrtxpo.cat
Netrtxpo.inf
R8139n51.sys

You could try right clicking the Network Controller in Device Manager and select Update Driver then point it to where you've saved the extracted files mentioned above. The other thing to try is to right click on the Netrtxpo.inf file and select install.

  Devil Fish 00:54 22 Jul 09

you need to point at the inf file if this does not work try re downloading the driver as it maybe corrupt

I am Spartacus; as I've said, pointing the install wizard at the folder - it just ignores it, evidently something not right!
Devil Fish; The install wizard won't let me explore further down than the folder "WinXP". and the .inf file is in there!!
weird or what!

You need to unzip the files from the folder not just open it.

I am Spartacus: Done that, see post At 00:49
Think my brain has gone to sleep, I'll give up for tonight!

Is this a device where the software needs to be installed first, if so perhaps you need to disconnect or if it is a PCI card then it might have to be taken out (PC switched off); reboot and install the software etc and then re connect how ever.
