Very frequently when I reboot the machine, Windows 7, I am told the Chrome Browser did not close down properly, and I am invited to click restore to go back to the page I was previously on. This has been going on for many months. Any ideas what might be the cause and what might be the cure please?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the chrome browser.

Thank you. Is it as drastic as it sounds or a relatively straightforward thing to do?

Easy

Uninstall from Add / Remove in control panel, redownload latest version from here

Thanks again. I may have found the answer anyway. I saw a solution to my problem for Windows n8.1 and applied it to my W7. So far it has worked. Under Chrome Settings/advanced settings/system I unticked "continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed". I did not know that was there, so here's hoping. Thanks again.
